I write in response to the photograph that appeared on the front page of the Lantern on Jan. 26. Tuesday morning, I picked up my copy of the Lantern to find a blood stained armchair, pictured in color, on the front page. I immediately put the Lantern down in disgust. After some consideration, I again took up the paper to read the article concerning the campus shootings. I think everyone on campus is concerned with the recent robberies and shootings that have occurred. I realize that the Lantern’s purpose is to report issues concerning our community and the world over, however to graphically represent the scene is a lack of responsibility on part of the Lantern.I personally found the picture to be insensitive toward the victim and the Ohio State community. I know if I were injured the last thing my family or I would need is a large photograph displaying the scene. There is enough violence in the world and it would be nice to see a publication take on a sensitive approach to reporting without glorifying a crime scene with morbid photographs.
