Those students planning to attend Ohio State in the fall have several options that maybe they don’t know about. To those students who may have had the burning desire to participate in sports in high school but maybe didn’t have the skills, OSU has the water to put out that fire
OSU boasts one of the top club sports programs in the country. That’s right, anyone interested in soccer, basketball, and yes, even fencing, can go out for a club team.
OSU consistently finishes in the top ranks in the country in several of their club programs.
Before people get to Ohio State, the generally feeling is that club sports aren’t taken seriously and that they aren’t treated with the same respect as varsity sports. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Club teams are given full uniforms and travel all over the country just the same as varsity teams.
Here are a few of the club sports programs offered at OSU:
- Baseball
- Soccer
- Fencing
- Volleyball
For those of you that are sitting there going “I don’t think I am good enough for the club teams at OSU,” or “I will be carrying too busy of a schedule to attend practices,” OSU can cater to you also. OSU has the number one recreational sports program in the country. Intramural sports fulfill the needs of the student that doesn’t quite have the time or skill to participate in a sport 100 percent. OSU recreational sports offer students almost any activity that they could ever desire. OSU has sports that involve water, they have sports that involve sand, and even sports involving grass.
In recent years, some intramural sports rank higher than others in the number of participants:
- Softball
- Football
- Basketball
- Volleyball
So, to all of you kids that never got the chance to hit the game winning homerun or catch the winning pass, get ready for OSU recreational sports.
