Now that the football team has reserved its ticket to the national championship, it is time for fans to get theirs.
The Office of Student Affairs is working with Uniglobe Travel Designers, Inc. to offer 1,000 tour packages to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3.
“We want to take as many cheering Buckeye fans as we can,” said Tracy Stuck, director of the Ohio Union.
Packages include either three- or four-night stays, a ticket to the game, ground transportation to the hotel and event and a souvenir T-shirt, said Elsie Blount, Uniglobe travel agent.
Three-night packages range in price from $1,346 to $1,490. For four nights the cost is $1,388 to $1,943. Full payment is due at the time of the reservation.
A discount price is available if total is paid by cash or check, Blount said.
Students, faculty and staff can purchase two tickets, one for themselves and one for a guest, Stuck said.
Reservations can be made until noon Tuesday at the Ohio Union West Ballroom, by calling 614-247-Bowl or online at www.ohiounion.com.
When registration closes, if more tickets have been purchased than are available, a lottery will be held. People drawn through the lottery will be notified by Wednesday, and full refunds will be given to those who are not selected, Stuck said.
The seats are in one block of the stadium, Stuck said. An additional block behind the marching band was requested.
Students need to make sure if they go with a different travel agency they definitely have tickets because every year people think everything is taken care of, but they are actually being taken advantage of, Blount said.
“If they go on our tour, they know they will have tickets,” Stuck said.
If a lottery is necessary and a person does not get tickets, he or she can purchase packages through other travel agencies in Columbus. Uniglobe is only offering the bowl package through OSU, Blount said.
University Travel is offering a four night package for $1,725, said Tim Logan, president of University Travel. Yesterday, 80 percent of the 170 available packages were already sold.
Regency Travel’s three-night bowl tour costs $1,595 per person for a double occupancy room, said Michael Wines, president of Regency Travel.
If people are interested only in purchasing tickets, and not a package for the game, they can be bought online at www.hangonsloopy.com or by calling 1-800-GO-BUCKS.
