Throughout all the preparatory work on the site of the future South Campus Gateway Center, vehicular traffic has been maintained on High Street, at times even utilizing Columbus Police. Wednesday morning, for at least the third time since demolition began, pedestrian access along High Street was interrupted.
There was no advance sign or alternative walkways, which necessitated walking in the street, creating a safety hazard and traffic delays.
Many people walk to and from campus through the Gateway area. I ask Campus Partners to devote more attention to planning so passage remains possible for pedestrians as well as cars.
