Goaltender Melissa Glaser recorded her first shutout Friday night. By making 30 saves, Glaser was able to push the Ohio State women’s hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Northeastern.

The perfect saves record did not continue throughout the weekend, however. In her second night in the box, Glaser allowed one puck past her in the 1-1 tie against Northeastern Saturday.

The Buckeye came out strong early in Friday’s game. For only the second time this season, they headed into the third period with a commanding three-point lead. Two of those goals were scored in the first period. Forward Jeni Creary led the way with two goals, her highest in a game this season.

Despite being out-shot 30-21, the Buckeyes were able to keep up defensive pressure throughout Friday’s game, even after the Huskies stepped up and took a majority of their shots in the second and third periods.

Saturday the story was a different for OSU though. Northeastern came out and scored first, putting the Buckeyes at a disadvantage. OSU freshman Katie Maroney answered Northeastern’s goal six minutes later in the first period with her first career goal to tie things up. Neither team was able to capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the rest of the evening in the final two periods and overtime.

With the win and tie, the Buckeyes stretched their unbeaten streak to eight games heading into the holiday break. This is the longest unbeaten streak in the history of the program. In 2000-01, OSU went on a six game win streak.

Also, the tie was OSU’s first of the season. The women brought their record to 8-5-1 after the weekend of non-conference play.
