The commentary on the Columbus streetcar initiative (or whatever it is called) was absurd. The poor student has only two options besides driving, and both are potentially expensive? While I don’t honestly care one way or the other how Columbus deals with the notion of modern streetcars, I can guarantee that students and the general public have three far less expensive alternatives to getting around the city: walking, biking and transit. COTA, while not perfect for every trip, is far less expensive than driving. I ride the bus to and from work every day. It is less expensive and usually less hassle than driving. Of course, I work in mass transit and I figure why be part of the problem when I can be part of the solution?
