The drinking game “You Got Got” puts a new spin on an old classic.

It is similar to the game “Quarters,” which involves two shot glasses and several quarters. In general, the object of “Quarters” is to bounce the quarter into the shot glass and pass it off to the person on the left before you get passed from the person on your right. If you get passed, you must take a shot of a beverage of your choice.

“You Got Got” requires a large table, a pack of plastic cups and two ping pong balls. In the center of the table, place a plastic cup filled to the top with any beverage. Surround it with cups filled to just the bottom part of the cup. Most plastic cups come with convenient measuring lines at its base, so fill it to one of the top two lines.

The game will require at a minimum of six people. The object of the game is not to get passed by the person to your right.

Players stand around the table and the players that start the game will have the empty cup and the ping pong ball. On someone’s command, the players try to bounce the ball into the empty cup. If they make it, they pass it off to the left.

An exception to this rule is if the person makes the ball into the cup on the first try. If this happens, the person is able to pass the cup to anyone around the table. There is no rule to determine who to pass it off to, but most players try to increase competition by giving it to the person to the direct right of the player with the other cup.

This way, both players are trying to get the ball in before the other person. If the person on a player’s direct right beats him or her, then the player that won must slap the cup off the table and the player that lost must grab one from the center of the table and drink it and then use that empty cup to continue to bounce the ball.

Competition gets heavy when one person is targeted and two players on either side go back and forth by making the ball in on their first tries.

Little by little the drinks in the middle dwindle down until the filled cup remains. The last person to get passed will be the unfortunate soul to drink the entire cup while the other players chant “you got got.”
