A 26-year-old Ohio State student walked out of her Summit Street apartment Tuesday morning and discovered a man sitting on the front steps, masturbating. The woman says her sister saw the same man masturbating outside the apartment on Friday. The man fled before police arrived.
A 21-year-old OSU student says she was in her apartment on the 100 block of East Norwich Avenue when she sensed that someone was watching her. When she looked at the front window, she saw a man watching her and masturbating. The man ran away before police arrived.
Roommates’ cars vandalized
Someone broke the passenger-side mirrors off of three cars parked on West Duncan Street near Neil Avenue sometime between 12:30 and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24. The 29-year-old woman who reported the crime says the cars belong to her and her two roommates.
Tires slashed on 5 cars
Between 1:30 and 6:30 a.m. last Wednesday, someone slashed the tires of five cars parked in a lot next to a home on the 100 block of East 16th Avenue. The cars all belong to the home’s residents – five OSU students and one OSU alumnus.
Burglar stole handgun, Masonic ring
A 27-year-old OSU student told police that while he was in the front yard of his house on the 200 block of East 17th Avenue last Wednesday afternoon, someone entered the house through a rear fire escape door and stole his handgun, a Masonic ring and an Xbox 360, valued together at $1,800.
2 cars stolen
Someone stole a 23-year-old OSU student’s 1996 Acura while it was parked on the first block of East 13th Avenue last Wednesday night.
Saturday night, someone stole a 56-year-old woman’s Jeep while it was parked on the 300 block of East 18th Avenue.
Men say they were threatened by gunman
Two 19-year-old men reported to police that an acquaintance was mad at them Thursday afternoon and came to the Summer Street house they were at and threatened them with a handgun. They say the man went to the front window with three other men and tapped on the glass with a handgun, telling the victims to come out. The man who allegedly had the gun was yelling and cussing, the victims said. When police arrived, the men outside had already fled. An officer called the alleged gunman, who said he went to the house but didn’t have a gun. No one was arrested.
Man cited for igniting firecrackers
Police cited 28-year-old John G. Schwind of Summit Street for setting off firecrackers on the sidewalk near North High Street and East 16th Avenue on Friday afternoon.
