Both the myths and the facts of marijuana use will be in the air Thursday at the “It’s Only Weed, Right?” workshop on campus.

The event is hosted by the Office of Continuing Education. Students can expect to learn about the long-term and short-term effects of marijuana use on health in addition to what’s true and what isn’t.

Although the office offers various workshops several times a week, this one has been advertised widely on campus.

“It’s a timely topic, especially on a college campus, that I think folks hopefully will be interested in,” said Lisa Durham, director of the Office of Continuing Education.

The workshop will be held from noon to 4:15 p.m Thursday in 115 Stillman Hall.

Students are encouraged to attend even if they are not social work majors but continuing education credit for licensed professionals in social work is available, Durham said.

Those who wish to attend the workshop must register for “It’s Only Weed, Right?” Durham encouraged OSU students and staff to call the office at 292-7686. The workshop requires a $15 enrollment fee.
