Five future Ohio State players gave fans something to look forward to in the Ohio North-South Classic Friday night.

Quarterback, and OSU commit, Verlon Reed helped the South beat the North by a final score of 23-20.

It was Reed’s 37-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that gave the South what would end up being an insurmountable 23-12 lead.

“It was a quarterback draw, and I saw two people coming at me, and I just used my instincts to get into the end zone,” Reed said. “I didn’t think I was going to break the tackle, but once I did I knew I was going to score.”

Reed, the game’s Most Valuable Player and lone OSU commit for the South, went 1-of-7 for 10 yards and threw an interception, and also rushed five times for 45 yards and a score.

J.T. Moore, who will be playing on the defensive line for OSU, said he and the rest of the future Buckeyes on the North squad tried to hold back from talking any trash to Reed throughout the game, seeing as to how they will be teammates in a few months.

“Us guys on the North made a bond over the past couple days, and we just saw Verlon on the other side, and we were talking to him and saying how we couldn’t wait for a couple months when we get to play together,” said Moore, who finished the game with five tackles and a sack.

Christian Bryant, a cornerback from Cleveland Glenville High School, and one of the most highly touted OSU recruits, had a rough game. He was flagged for multiple pass interferences, an unsportsmanlike conduct, and was actually ejected from the game after an unpleasant exchange with one of the referees.

“I just threw the ball to the referee and he thought I threw it hard. It was nothing on my bad. I just tossed him the ball and he just felt like I had disrespected him, that’s all,” he said.

OSU commit Tyrone Williams, a 6-foot-7-inch 215-pound receiver out of East Cleveland Shaw High School, ended the game with two catches for 19 yards and a two-point conversion that brought the North within three points late in the fourth quarter.

Darryl Baldwin, a future defensive end for OSU, cherished his first opportunity to play at Ohio Stadium.

“It’s great playing here in the ‘Shoe, there’s not nearly as many people out tonight as there will be once we get down here,” Baldwin said. “I’ve been talking to the guys on my team going here. We’re getting ready and working together, and I can’t wait to play here again.”
