In the past few weeks The Lantern has seen three articles about Conan O’Brien. That is three too many, but here is a fourth.
It is true that O’Brien is not really that great, but you must admit sometimes his show can be funny, and everyone stops on NBC around 1 a.m. every now and then. I prefer watching the Jimmy Kimmel show, or maybe Craig Kilborn instead, but that’s just me.
My real concern here is with The Lantern. Being a former writer for the Arts section, I am deeply worried by the writing going on right now. Seriously, how many articles about O’Brien do we have to read? Can we get a concert review or something?
The arts editor gives us a restaraunt review four times a week, two front page articles about O’Brien, and said that “Changing Lanes” was one of the best movies last year.
I was caught by surprise to finally see another book review in Friday’s issue. Is this the kind of stuff students really want to read about? I don’t know – I can’t speak for the student body.
However, I know that I am sick of reading crappy stories that have nothing to do with news in Columbus. I mean, Conan sucks; everyone knows that. Whatever happened to articles about the local music scene or at least something interesting?
