The location that once housed Flying Tomato Pizza in a Pan is now the home of Zig’s 15th Avenue Bar and Grill.Zig’s owner, Ted Ziegler, saw the opportunity to create a bar and grill different from any other in the campus area.”We are giving people what is really needed … a very clean and upscale atmosphere, while still providing prices affordable to OSU students,” Ziegler said.The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of Illinois reported the Flying Tomato Inc. filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 13, which forced them to close the campus area location.Joe and Ralph Senn, former owners of the Flying Tomato, had financial problems at its corporate headquarters in Champaign, Ill. The Senns were unavailable for comment.The building was on the market for about five months. On July 1, the Park View Group in Bexley purchased the leasing rights from the Pella Co., a Columbus real estate management company.Ziegler enlisted Shremshock Architects to renovate the building. The layout of the main floor was changed to accommodate more people and bars.Zig’s has a licensing agreement with Fat Tuesday, a New Orleans-based company, to use its recipes and frozen drink machines. Fat Tuesday is found in many spring break locations around the country.
