Halloween is not just for kids. Adults are also getting into the act. From old favorites to the latest in popular culture, costumes are still a top priority to celebrate the holiday.This year’s most popular costume is the “Scream” mask, according to Waterbeds n Stuff, Inc., 1581 N. High St, and Yankee Trader, 463 N. High St. The mask is from last winter’s hit movie, “Scream,” directed by Wes Craven. The mask is not the only popular item this Halloween. The “retro” look is still in, as well as military gear where available. Camouflage fatigues and officers’ dress uniforms are favorites, said Jon Eplin, a sales associate at the Cousin’s Army-Navy Store, 1453 N. High St.Bell bottoms, colorful wigs, flowers and flashy earrings are just some of the items people are buying, said Beverly Eargar, supervisor at the Salvation Army, 2632 Morse Road.For rental costumes, the top seller is the French maid, said J.J. Johnson, a sales associate at the Costume Holiday House, 1510 Bethel Road. The costume is a black and white print with a low-cut neckline, he said.Neha Shah, a fourth-year student majoring in accounting and management information systems, said she plans to be a French maid because she already has the costume.Other students around campus have many ideas of their own.Michael Herr, a freshman majoring in chemistry, is going to dress up as The Crow from the movie of the same name. He is going to wear white face paint, a black trenchcoat and a black wig.This is quite a contrast to the costume he was wearing Wednesday. At the time, he was wearing a silver ‘Hershey’s Kiss.’ It was all to win a $30 bet he had placed with a friend. Chandan Dada, a senior majoring in transportation and logistics, is considering going as a nerd if he has all the essential gear.
