Intelligent design is a theory that is as scientifically viable as any other theory that scientists have created to explain the first microseconds of the universe.
Granted, intelligent design should not be taught as fact, but neither should the Big Bang theory nor macroevolution.
There is no evidence of humans evolving from the first single-celled organisms or that a Big Bang is physically possible. The thing that upsets me and other students about the biology curriculum is it presents scientific theories, then says, “This leaves no room for belief in a god, so get that out of your head now.”
These types of statements violate the Establishment Clause of the Constitution as much as a professor teaching the creation of the universe and everything in it by God does.
The state may neither teach that there is a God nor that there is not.
If intelligent design is not to be taught in the classroom, God should be left out entirely. Professors should not use their classes as a forum to voice their opinions about God.
