Network Event Theater (NET) presents a free screening of “Wild Things” at Ohio State, sponsored by the Ohio Drake Unions Activities Board.”We’ve had about 40 calls about the show already with people trying to guarantee groups,” said Frank A. Lazar, lecture chairperson for the board. “People grab tickets early and many people get left out. It’s on a first-come, first-serve basis and this leads to a lot of problems for us.”NET, based in Arizona, beams the premiere through satellite to all schools involved in the program, said Conni Catlett, NET chairperson. OSU has been involved with NET for about two years.”Wild Things” stars Matt Dillon, Kevin Bacon, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards. The movie is directed by John McNaughton, director of “Mad Dog and Glory” and “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.””Wild Things” follows a story in Blue Bay, Fla. after a local teenage guidance counselor is accused of raping one of his students; thus, erupts a world filled with lies, secrets and deception. After the preview, there will be an interactive interview with cast members via satellite because all the stars will attend the Blockbuster Awards before the event, Catlett said.”We will be able to see the stars on the screen and there will be a phone in the projection room,” Catlett said. “The questions will be screened and there’s no guarantee OSU will get through, but there is a good chance that we’ll get at least one question in.”The showing is sponsored by Tabasco. There will be free pizza served for about 200 people, but the pizza will have Tabasco sauce on it, Catlett said. The pizza is donated by Sbarro’s.”This is a big deal because the movie is not in theaters yet,” Catlett said. “You have to be there early to get in. We will also be giving away movie posters.””I Know What You Did Last Summer” previewed through NET last summer and over 600 people showed up, Lazar said. The Conference Theatre only seats 300 people.”We have to stress that although there is an overabundance of passes, that doesn’t guarantee entry,” Lazar said. “Seating is very limited.””We’ve been doing this all year, but this movie seems bigger,” Catlett said. “There are more previews to come later in the year.”The preview of “Wild Things” will be shown at 9p.m. Tue., March 10 in the Conference Theatre at the Ohio Union. Passes for the movie are available at the Ohio Union Newsstand and Drake Union.
