Ohio State will not have a specific beer company providing beer at the new arena.OSU’s Schottenstein Center will not have beer advertisements in the arena or look at sponsorship packages from beer companies, said Jim Smith, director of marketing for athletics. At some events, beer could be available to all ticket holders, but that will have to be approved by top level officials at OSU, said Xen Riggs, director of the Schottenstein Center. Alcohol will be served only to people who belong to the Huntington Club and to skybox occupants, he said. The only alcohol-related advertisements will be about responsible drinking, Riggs said.”The way the building is constructed, a person has to have a certain ticket to get to the areas where beer is served,” Riggs said.Buckeye fans will also be able to enjoy more than the traditional hot dogs, soda and popcorn at the arena. The arena will compare to professional venues when it comes to food choices.Marriott, a local company, will be in charge of concessions, said Riggs. Marriott is currently in charge of concessions for St. John Arena, and the football and baseball stadiums.Marriott will also hold the liquor license for the alcohol that is served, Riggs said. OSU and Marriottare considering different food concepts to serve at the arena, said Todd Guevin, concessions director. These concepts include a grill that could possibly serve chicken and hamburgers, Guevin said. An Italian concession is being planned that would serve pizza, salad and breadsticks for the more health-conscious consumers.
