The Ohio State men’s basketball team fell victim to the red-hot shooting of the Purdue Boilermakers as they dropped another one Saturday night 107-75.The Boilermaker’s helped their cause by shooting a scorching 65 percent from the field. They set a school record by hitting 16 3-pointers. Purdue’s 107 points was also the most points scored in a Big Ten game since 1994.’They’re a good shooting team,’ said freshman forward Jon Sanderson. ‘I think that the 65 percent was because of us. We played terrible defense.’Things looked promising for the Buckeyes early on. With 11:47 left in the first half, Carols Davis hit a 5-footer from the left baseline to put the Bucks up 17-16. But Purdue quickly responded with 7-0 run and squashed any remaining hope the Buckeyes might have had.The Buckeyes finally found another person to score as Sanderson had a career-high 24 points to lead the team.’I thought that Jon played with some confidence and played hard for the entire 38 minutes,’ Buckeye coach Jim O’Brien said. ‘This was not an easy game for anybody to play 38 minutes in and I think that Jon showed some strength and some stamina.’Senior center Brad Miller, who led Purdue with 22 points, was one of six Boilermaker’s who scored in double figures. Miller went 9-for-10 from the field and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.’I wanted Brad to play strong early and not miss any bunnies in there and he didn’t,’ said Purdue coach Gene Keady. ‘He kept establishing that and we got off to a pretty good start.’Keady wanted to let the Buckeye faithful know the game was nothing personal, but he was just out for sweet revenge.’They were getting after me tonight about running the score up.’ Keady said. ‘I said ‘Hey, wait a minute, you forgot about football games, just shut up and sit down.’ We’ve got a lot of paybacks we owe you.’The Buckeyes, now 7-15 overall and 0-9 in the Big Ten, travel north to face the Michigan Wolverines Wednesday with tip-off slated for 8 p.m.
