Visiting a friend at Ohio State turned out to be a frightening experience for two Ball State students early Monday morning.Frank M. Alberson, 22, of Muncie, Ind., was sitting at a stop light on the corner of 12th Avenue and High Street when two men approached his vehicle. His passenger, Jason Girt, 25, of Anderson, Ind., locked his door, but Alberson was not quick enough. One of the men forced open the driver’s side door, and Alberson took off down High Street in a panic. One of the men was pulled down High Street for two blocks while hanging on to the door of the vehicle – at speeds of 30 mph – before finally gaining access. The other man chased them down the street on foot.”He was a larger fellow,” Alberson said. “He was having a hard time keeping up.”The man hanging onto the door repeatedly told Alberson to stop the vehicle. Unsure of whether the man carried a weapon or not, Alberson did as he was asked and allowed both men into the vehicle. The man who ordered Alberson to stop was covered in blood, Alberson said. “I didn’t know what he was going to do.”The carjackers asked to be driven to a telephone so they could call the police, Alberson said. They wound up at the United Dairy Farmers at 2094 N. High St.Alberson’s passenger went into the store to tell the clerk to call the police. The two men remained outside with Alberson.”One of them stayed by the car,” Alberson said. “The other one was pacing and moving around a lot.”One of the two men took the keys from the car and threw them onto the roof of a nearby two-story apartment building.Alberson got the attention of a Columbus Dispatch delivery truck that was passing by, and the driver went to get the police. The two men face charges of kidnapping, but their names were not available at press time.
