Once again the Lantern shows its unworthiness by proving how much a mystery it is to itself.I am personally offended by the printing of “1999 Halloween Sneak Preview.” Such slanderous and oppressive material demands an apology and a progressive promise that the Lantern will not participate in such grievous acts of journalistic malevolence, ever. This recent occurrence is one in a long-line of actions typical of the Lantern’s chauvinistic, discriminatory and insensitive intentions toward under-represented groups, by decision and non-decision making.Like many other administratively oriented enterprises on campus, inexperienced students running organizations in the shadow of the administration and at the expense of the groups the university does not find currently in vogue, will only lead themselves to ruin. The Lantern should ethically develop a strategy that takes into account its greater mission, which is to serve as an affective communication vehicle for the masses, not act as personal oppressors.Shame on all on the Lantern that makes and allows such actions to be possible.
