In the mood to sit back relax and become stupefied? Wait one more week and the ideal night will arrive. “American Pie 2,” the follow-up to the original shock comedy, will be released Jan. 15, on DVD.
“American Pie 2” is equal in almost every aspect to the original. It combines over-the-edge comedy along with impetus, young, horny teenagers. The laughs flow from beginning to end, but as in the first, the slapstick comedy becomes a bit stupid at times.
An example of this is the scene where Jim (star of the Web cam in the original) decided to pleasure himself, and Krazy Glued one hand to his “special place,” while getting his other hand stuck to a porn film. Obviously, the scene was a little over the top, but didn’t ruin the movie.
As a matter of fact, one should expect this film to go over the top on more than one occasion, but everything else shown could possibly happen. Yes the “possibly” is a stretch, but the film is realistic. For example, Stifler gets urinated on, a truth or dare with the possible lesbians from next door, as well as a few visits to band camp could all happen.
Other scenes to pay attention to include: Nadia returning from overseas, the return of the “Shermanator” and Stifler’s mom making a surprise appearance.
Overall, the film is not a disappointment and accomplishes its goal as a continuation of the first film. As a DVD, “American Pie 2” doesn’t live up to the ultimate edition of “American Pie.” Therefore, if you are interested in owning the second film, wait just a little while longer and buy the ultimate edition of “American Pie 2.”
