Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel remained vague on senior captain and running back Lydell Ross’ suspension for Saturday’s game and his status for next week’s game against Penn State.
“At this point in time he is suspended,” Tressel said after Saturday’s 30-7 win.
Tressel would not elaborate as to the length of Ross’ suspension.
“How long it will be, I really don’t know,” he said. “We were busy with other agendas when it came up, and we’ll address that at the proper time, when we have some time.”
Ross was suspended Friday for an incident that apparently took place late Oct.16 or early Oct. 17 at Pure Platinum gentlemen’s club on Bethel Road. According to local television reports, Ross tried to pass fake tokens that are used by the establishment for dances or beverages.
Ross has not been charged with a crime but was named on a police report regarding the alleged incident.
Tressel also didn’t say exactly what about the incident necessitated the suspension, whether it was a violation of team rules or a possible NCAA infraction.
“It was not what we would hope any of our people would be involved in,” Tressel said.
Ross has been the Buckeyes’ starting tailback this season, rushing for 343 yards on 94 attempts.
