You can run from the frights in the forest, but getting away from hungry plants won’t be so easy.

That’s what visitors will face at Franklin Park Conservatory’s trick-or-treat program Sunday.

The park and its 400 species of exotic plants will aim to terrify between 1 and 4 p.m., with a haunted forest and garden and Venus fly trap feedings. For the faint of heart, park workers will lead Halloween-themed glass blowing and face-painting. A professional squash carver will be on hand as well.

“It’s a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon,” said Lori Kingston, the marketing director for Franklin Park Conservatory. “The usual turnout for holiday-themed events like this is between 250 to 450 people.”

The trick-or-treat event ties in with the conservatory’s “Savage Gardens” exhibit, which showcases the bizarre, the beautiful and the deadly carnivorous plants of the world.

Trick-or-treat “seems to be a good companion with Savage Gardens this year. It’s kind of a natural fall out,” Kingston said.

Admission is $9 with a BuckID. Members of the conservatory can bring up to four guests for 50 percent off admission that night.
