The Ohio State Buckeyes are the 2015 National Champions.

Following a Sugar Bowl victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Buckeyes faced the Oregon Ducks in the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship Game and emerged with a 42-20 victory. OSU’s National Championship is the eighth in school history and the first for head coach Urban Meyer in Columbus.

In the game, some timely defense from the “Silver Bullets” helped the Buckeyes to overcome four turnovers, but it was Ezekiel Elliott who stole the show. The sophomore running back finished with 246 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries, leading the Buckeyes throughout the evening.

From the loss of Braxton Miller at the beginning of the season, the OSU loss to Virginia Tech in the team’s home opener, the death of walk-on defensive lineman Kosta Karageorge to the loss of J.T. Barrett against Michigan, the Buckeyes overcame it all to call themselves National Champions in 2015.
