A Columbus man tampering with a bike lock outside of Mack Hall was caught red handed by University Police Wednesday morning.According to police reports, the man was observed by an officer pulling on the securing cable of a bicycle with a pair of wire cutters.When the officer approached the man he dropped the wire cutters and briskly walked away from the area.The officer stopped the man, and observed blood on both of his hands. When the wire cutters were picked up, blood was also found on those.The man would not disclose how he got blood on his hands, or why he fled the area.He told police he had stopped to fix the chain on his own bike, which was parked next to the women’s ten speed bike he was tampering with.The man was charged by University Police with possessing criminal tools.

Fugitive hospital employee arrested

An employee at the Ohio State University Hospitals was arrested Feb. 26 after police discovered he was a fugitive from the law.According to police reports, it was recently learned that the employee had five outstanding warrants with the New Rome Police Department.After learning of the outstanding warrants he was placed under arrest by University Police on the fifth floor of Rhodes Hall.The man was later released.

Golfer with bad aim hits parked carThere is not a driving range within miles of Morrill Tower, yet an OSU student with a car parked outside the building reported finding golf divots in her windshield Sunday.The student told University Police she parked her 1993 Ford in the North Morrill parking lot at 1:30 a.m., and when she returned at 1:00 p.m. the car was damaged.There were scratches in the area of the gas filler door and the windshield on the passenger side appeared to have been struck twice with an unknown object that created indentions resembling golf divots.The woman told police she did not know who did this, as she is not having problems with anyone. Police have no suspects.The cost of the damages to the car has not yet been estimated.

Student passes out in middle of streetAn OSU student was arrested Friday after he took an alcohol-induced nap in the middle of West Woodruff Avenue.According to police reports, the student was observed by an officer staggering southbound down the Curl Drive sidewalk.When the student reached the intersection of Curl and Woodruff he walked into the middle of the road and passed out.When officers reached him, he was unable to provide basic information or speak coherently, and he smelled of alcohol.Police attempted to transport him to Franklin County Jail, but because of his condition he was redirected to the OSU Emergency Room for treatment.After numerous tests were run he was released to University Police, who charged him with disorderly conduct.
