The Schottenstein Center was renamed Friday by Ohio State’s Board of Trustees at the request of the Schottenstein family.The new name of the arena, slated to open this fall, is the Jerome Schottenstein Center.Jerome Schottenstein, who died in 1992, was always the intended honoree of the building, The Columbus Dispatch reported.The family received naming rights for the center after it gave $12.5 million for construction. The arena, which is part of the center, will still be called the Value City Arena.Attempts to reach members of the Schottenstein family were unsuccessful.
