Whether The Bloodhound Gang can remain popular after the success of their hit song “The Bad Touch” dies down is still undecided, but as of right now, they are at the peak of their careers and loving it.The Bloodhound Gang will be ‘doing it like they do on the Discovery Channel’ at the Newport Music Hall at 7 tonight.”Evil” Jared Hasselhoff, 29, bass player for the Bloodhound Gang, has been in the band since autumn of 1995. Hasselhoff, a graduate of Temple University with a degree in human resource administration, said he got a job as a marketing manager for a company right after graduation. The thing was – he wasn’t getting any girls.”I went for a year and a half without getting laid,” Hasselhoff said. He realized it was much easier to get girls playing in a band.”I looked around Philadelphia at who was getting some ass and it was all these crappy musicians and Top 40 cover bands. So I said ‘Screw this business crap, I’m joining a band,'” he said.Hasselhoff said he hopes he does not get arrested again when he comes to Columbus this time.”If any state police or campus police are reading this, could they please not arrest us? Every time we come to Columbus, it seems we end up in jail,” he said.According to Hasselhoff, the band was on the Roar tour with Iggy Pop and were playing at the Polaris Amphitheater when the band got arrested because Hasselhoff got naked.”It turns out it is illegal to get naked in Columbus,” he said.He said the band was held for six hours by police on charges of inciting a riot and indecent exposure.Hasselhoff said the charges for inciting a riot came when the band called everyone down to the lower section, which was blocked off for those who paid more for their seats.”There was no one in the expensive seats, and everyone was in the grass, so we told everyone to come down,” he said. Hasselhoff said if they all came down at once, the security guards would not have beeen able to stop them all. Instead, the members of the band got arrested. He said that he does not find the band’s lyrics offensive and that some people just take things too seriously.”I guess we haven’t had enough wars in America, so people have all this free time to (complain) about music and put parental stickers on records,” Hasselhoff said.According to Hasselhoff, if the United States had another war the government would stop worrying about minor issues.”We need to give the government something other to worry about other than busting kids for drinking a beer and smoking a joint,” Hasselhoff said. The Bloodhound Gang just returned to North America after being in Europe for several months.”We have been on tour for 16 months and this will be a 18- to 19-month tour,” Hasselhoff said.He said the band has gotten to relax while on the tour.”To keep busy on the road we watch a lot of porn and drink a lot of Jaegermeister,” he said. Hasselhoff said the band’s music is not very serious, likening its music to Weird Al Yankovic’s.The Bloodhound Gang used to have a large underground following, but after putting songs on the radio it has changed their audience. According to Hasselhoff, he said he doesn’t really care who comes to the band’s show and buys their albums. “Everyone’s money spends just the same, although I would love to make music that only strippers and Hooters girls came out to see,” he said.Hasselhoff said he agrees with the critics of the band that say they will be a one-hit-wonder.”If you can call ‘The Bad Touch’ a hit, they are probably right. We will be a one-hit-wonder,” he said. After the band finishes up this tour, The Bloodhound Gang will take about a year off to record another album. Tickets for the concert are $16. There will also be a pre-show party at 6:30 p.m. for $3 at the Newport Music Hall.
