MasterCard’s memorable “Priceless” ad campaign focused on college internships in its recent commercial featuring a young man aboard the bus of a traveling band. A list of his previous low-wage internships run across the screen, leading up to his “priceless” internship with the rock band.
MasterCard is offering college students an opportunity to develop a few “priceless” memories and experiences of their own through its “Priceless Edge” Internship program.
“OSU students have a great opportunity to break into the music industry, which can be very difficult,” said Heather Kovins, senior account executive for Alan Taylor Communications .
MasterCard International developed the summer internship program to give college students real-life work experience in the extremely competitive music industry. The internship is open to part-time or full-time college students ages 18-25 who have a desire to work inside the entertainment industry.
Mark Anderson, MasterCard senior executive of Brand Building for the “Priceless Edge” Internship, said this opportunity is open to any college student, regardless of grades or academic accomplishments.
“We want them to know we are on their side and that we are looking for dedicated, down-to-earth people with a desire to learn,” said Anderson.
The program includes a five-week course on business entertainment held at Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities for 50 students as well as an internship with Fearless Entertainment for 12 qualifying students. These students will have the chance to work on a production of the company’s “Music in High Places” series in Los Angeles, which airs on MTV.
The show will be shot on location at Yellowstone in California. Interns will have the chance to work in various areas including production, business affairs, artist relations and management.
From now until April 23, students can log on to www.mastercard.com and apply for the “Priceless Edge” Internship by completing a general information form as well as an online essay question asking, “If you could start your own entertainment company, what would it do and how would it be different?” Qualifiers will be notified by May 1.
