A man suspected of breaking and entering died Sunday after being released from the hospital to police for processing.
Nathaniel Lee Searcy, 50, was one of two suspects taken to Ohio State East Hospital after being Maced by police during a chase.
Medics checked the condition of the suspects and both were released. However, Searcy appeared to have suffered from cardiac arrest while detained in the police cruiser.
The break-in occurred at 993 Mt. Vernon Ave. Sunday evening. Police responding to the call witnessed two people leaving the building.
The two suspects were followed to 69 N. 17th Ave. where they parked their vehicle and continued to run on foot. The chase forced officers to use Mace to take control of the suspects.
