I couldn’t agree more with the op-ed piece on the University’s new slogan “Do something big.” We spent over $250,000 for that?
Rather than change perceptions about Ohio State, I believe it perpetuates them. This brings to mind our “big” stadium, perpetuating the football school persona. It also states an exact reason why a lot of excellent Ohio students cite they don’t want to attend Ohio State, “it’s too ‘big.”
The Athletics Department had a successful campaign, as you suggested, back in the late 1980s utilizing students to come up with a new athletic logo. With the success of our Fisher College of Business, how could we not use our very own marketing resources?
I only hope that the revelation of this “potential” slogan is a ruse before a truly unique and inspiring slogan is unveiled!
